Jordan and Faber were recommended to undertake this project with our previous experience of working within a controlled environment. In a limited timeframe Jordan and Faber were requested to undertake the full internal refurbishment of The Private Quarters of the Digby Dormitories for Sherborne School. The client required Jordan and Faber to assist them through the design and Building Regulation process on the project. We were required to plan all pre-construction items, programme the contracted works and complete the project in a very short time frame.
Site constraints involved working within a live dormitory, safeguarding of pupils at all times and negotiating key site tasks around the schools regular activities with the Dormitory. Jordan and Faber’s Site Management team worked closely throughout the project with the schools Health and Safety Manager in programming and undertaking these works to guarantee compliance with the schools strict policy’s though out our works.
Jordan and Faber successfully managed and undertook the full package of works on site acting as the Principal Contractor. Works here involved the following:
- Removal of structural walls and the installation of steelwork to create a large Kitchen/Diner.
- The refurbishment and replacement of sash windows. .
- A new hot and cold water system.
- New sanitary ware installation.
- Full electrical re-wire.
- All carpentry works, including new internal fire doors throughout.
- All dry lining and plastering works.
- Kitchen installation.
- Ceramic tiling.
- Full internal decoration.
All works were handed over on time, achieving full building control sign off and Jordan and Faber were pleased to secure the next project from the School, continuing our strong working relationship together.
